St Barbara the New Martyr Trust

The Trust was set up some years ago to support monastics mainly in the UK or who give prayerful support to Orthodox Christians in Britain. St Barbara the New Martyr was St Elisabeth's cell attendant and is buried with her in Gethsemane. Vladika Mark brought us a relic of both new martyrs on one of his visits to our parish. This past year the Trust funded the replacement of Mother Photina's monastic attire and gave Christmas donations to Fr Sergei in Clacton on Sea and Brother Ian, a novice of the Moanastery of St Job of Pochaev, Munich who partially resides in our parish. Our monastics are the "Watchmen at the Gate" and do an essential work of prayer and intercession. It is important that we help them in their ascetic struggle. The Trustees of the Trust are Reader Chad Newman and Aidan Draper. Any profit from the church bookstall goes to support the work of the Trust. A short article will appear soon to explain the purpose of the Trust and how you might get involved.
